The Real Benefits of Practicing in Infrared Heat

If you’ve never tried a heated yoga class before, the idea of practicing in a warm room might sound intimidating. But there’s a real, physiological reason we built our signature classes — Hot Vinyasa, Journey Into Power, and FUNdamentally Yoga — around infrared heat rather than skipping it altogether.

Unlike traditional space heaters that simply warm the air around you, infrared heat penetrates directly into the body’s tissues. That means the therapeutic warmth reaches your muscles more efficiently, which is why practitioners often notice:

  • Easier, more comfortable movement into stretches, since warm muscles are naturally more pliable
  • Improved circulation, as the heat encourages blood flow throughout the body
  • A deeper sense of detoxification, supported by increased sweat production
  • Support for cardiovascular health, similar to the effects of light cardio exercise

None of this means you need to be an advanced practitioner to try a heated class. Every heated class we offer includes modifications throughout, so newer students can ease into the heat at their own pace while still experiencing the benefits. If you’re curious but hesitant, our FUNdamentally Yoga class was actually designed as an on-ramp — comfortably heated, but paced for beginners.

Whatever level you’re at, the heat isn’t there to make things harder. It’s there to help your body do more of what it’s already capable of.
